| Mitch Glickman - Music
Workshop:
Students will be immersed in instrumental music and gain the rare opportunity to actually play instruments from the four families of the orchestra (strings, percussion, woodwinds and brass), including violin, flute, trumpet, percussion, and keyboard. They will learn the science (physics) behind the sound production of each of the instruments, as well as their cultural history.
A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, Mitch Glickman taught music throughout Los Angeles County as a teaching artist, coach, and conductor. Professionally, he serves as Co-Music Director of the 67-member Symphonic Jazz Orchestra. He created their Community Outreach Program, which has served over 15,000 young people and their families. Glickman has led educational concerts and family concerts at such venues as Royce Hall, the Ford Amphitheatre, and Walt Disney Theatre at CalArts, and has conducted music residencies in LAUSD, Alhambra Unified, and Culver City Unified schools.
